Weight Loss Truths: Stop Telling Fat Stories!

Do you have a collection of "fat stories" that you constantly repeat to yourself and other people?

Fat stories are things like this:

"It's hard for me to lose weight because I have a slow metabolism."

"Obesity runs in my family so it's an uphill battle for me."

"The only way I can lose weight is if I starve myself."

"If I don't work out for 2 hours a day, I gain weight."

"If I even look at sweets I gain a few pounds."

"No matter what I do, I can't seem to keep the weight off."

"Since I turned 40 I lose weight very slowly."

These "stories" and others like them may be the very thing that is preventing you from losing weight easily and keeping it off.

If you aren't yet aware of the immense power your thoughts have over your body, you may be wondering how these seemingly innocent statements could cause any problems . . . after all, they're "true" right?

What if they are true only because you have made them true by constantly repeating them to yourself?

Beliefs = Reality

According to the law of attraction, whatever you believe will become your reality. Take another look at the statements above and consider whether you believe any of them to be true for you. Do you remember when they became true? Did your parents or others keep telling you that this is the way it is? Or have the beliefs seemed to always be there, lurking in your subconscious mind with no apparent source?

Getting to the root of these perceptions can be helpful in turning them around - but even if you can't remember how they first got planted in your mind, you can still change them into something more empowering.

Repeat After Me

One of the easiest ways to change limiting, destructive beliefs is to plant new seeds that will overwrite the old beliefs. For example, start telling yourself and other people often, "Losing weight has always come easily to me. I really enjoy eating nutritious food and exercising every day. My metabolism is fast and efficient. I can eat whatever I like and not gain an ounce."

I know what you're thinking: "But these things aren't TRUE for me!"

Not yet, no. But the more you keep reinforcing your belief in them, you will start to believe them more and more.

And when you do that, you will notice that your outer circumstances start changing to match your new "truths".

It won't happen overnight - but you've probably been battling your weight for years; a few months spent creating solid, long-lasting positive beliefs can make your life a lot easier for the next 40 or 50 years.
